The continuing vision of the fourth edition of this casebook, which builds upon the original work of Susan Grover with the current authors Sandra Sperino and Jarod Gonzalez, is to synchronize both the theoretical and practical application of the law of employment discrimination in a format that aids student learning. The casebook asks students to view legal problems from different perspectives, such as a plaintiff's lawyer, a judge, an in-house counsel, a defense attorney, a victim of discrimination, a person accused of discrimination, a human resources professional, and an employer. Notable changes to the fourth edition include updated materials on sexual orientation discrimination, gender identity discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, religious discrimination, disability discrimination, and affirmative action. In particular, the chapter on protected traits and special issues has been modified to reflect recent developments in employment discrimination law. This book is part of the Context and Practice Series, edited by Michael Hunter Schwartz, Professor of Law and Dean of the McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific.
